2008 - Identifying the leading themes for the debate

  • Jan Donner –the chairman of the DPRN Task Force – wrote a note which outlined the fragmented structure of Dutch development cooperation.
  • The DPRN team (Mirjam Ros & Kim de Vries) wrote an issue paper on the Future of Dutch development cooperation based on a series of interviews with DPRN Task Force members and a few external key players.

2009 - Increasing the sense of urgency through public consultation

  • Four working groups (each including participants from policy, practice, academia and the business sector) prepared propositions on the organisation of Dutch development cooperation. Together the groups formulated a total of 47 propositions, which the DPRN Task Force and team arranged into a synthesis document.
  • DPRN organised a meeting on 15 June 2009 at the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, during which the outcomes of the working groups were debated. The report of the meeting can be viewed here.
  • The DPRN Task Force wrote a programme of requirements for the organisation of Dutch development cooperation (PROVO) to inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and political parties about a possible strategy and ways of organising the infrastructure for more effective development cooperation. The document is available in Dutch and English.

2010 - Debating the future knowledge agenda and infrastructure for development

  • Seventeen professors of development studies and related disciplines were interviewed about their opinions with regard to the future knowledge agenda and infrastructure for development. The DPRN team synthesised the results in a paper and presented it for discussion during a workshop at the CERES-EADI Summer School. The results of the discussion were integrated into the final paper, entitled Towards a future knowledge agenda and infrastructure for development.
